Lowender
Not sure if it's virtuosity, but the bass player sounded more like a rock / funk player with some chops. Nice, but it actually takes away from the "authenticity" a bit.

Roland Rock
Nice one Nigel, very enjoyable viewing. I thought from the title that it was going to be some horrendous reggae fusion or something, so was pleasantly surprised. I'm still not a big fan of jazz or rock style solos over reggae, as it can take away from the rhythmic pulse that should be the main feel of reggae IMO Off the subject of reggae, Gil Scott Heron's band are on fire! check out 'the bottle' circa 39.00 For those who enjoy a bass solo, check it out from 45.50. Not my thing really; the simpler grooves are nice (even the slap!) but the widdlier stuff (the repeated patterns chromatically running up and down again) take away from what is otherwise an amazing band performance. Edit: just spotted Lojo's post. I love it too Edited September 29, 2013 by Roland Rock
Kiwi
Tsk...bass is out of tune at 2:13 (sharp A-string?) I can't like them no matter how good they are...
