Bought new two years ago. Studio use only. A beautiful instrument handmade in Germany and costing around £1200 new. The neck is fast and the action is really excellent. It's an extremely lightweight and comfortable bass to play. The Esh-Tronic system works very well with lots of tonal variation and a direct out for studio use. The EMG 35DCs supply the growl and top end. The piezo pickup produces plenty of low (almost sub) bottom end (unlike other piezo pickups) and adds a whole other dimension to the sound, thickening it up subtly (can be adjusted) but very nicely.

Also features:

Rosewood fretboard

Schaller tuning heads

Graphite nut

3-Ply unvarnished maple neck with walnut stripe

Unique sanded black satin finish
In absolutely mint condition. However, for transparency and fairness: on close inpsection, there's a small mark on the top of the headstock, and also on the side of the fretboard near the nut, but neither are noticable or affect playability.

There's a review in BGM here: http://www.esh-bass....eign_may_09.pdf

A diagram that explains the controls in more detail is here: http://www.esh-bass....emid=66&lang=en

The neck dimensions are here: http://www.esh-bass....easurements.pdf. A quick check of mine seems to agree: 41mm wide (and 21 mm deep) at the nut.
A hardcase can be negotiated, if required.

Pickup or insured delivery by courier (price not included and subject to location).

I'd prefer to sell, but would consider trading (plus or minus any difference) for:

Musicman Stingray 4 HH

Musicman Stingray 4 or 5 fretless

Spector Euro or NS with a standard neck profile

Any tasty fretless 5 with loads of mwah

US Fender Tele or Strat
I also have a Spector for sale here (now sold).

Thanks TLBX. It was great to talk shop. Don't forget that Spector next time. ;)

Yes, the Esh really needs to be picked up and played to be fully appreciated. The texture, quality of workmanship and playability are all really excellent.

Originally, I flew over to Bass Direct to look at fretless basses. Despite having never even laid hands on an Esh before, I came back with this instead!
