NoirBass
I am the lucky owner of an old '69 Telecaster bass. When it came to me it hadn't got the original scratch plate. What I'd like is to source a replica, problem being I don't have the original. Can anyone recommend someone who could do it and would I need to find someone who has an original to trace? Cat Burrito
The Bass Doc on here would do it, I'm sure but can't help you on an original to trace
tredders
+1 for the Bass Doc. Howard just refinished my Telecaster bass, and made a beautiful aged looking scratch plate. I doubt you'll need an original - Howard knows all when it comes to Fender stuff! Edited September 30, 2013 by tredders
NoirBass
Brilliant, thanks for the info. I'm off to PM the Doc!
kevin_lindsay
What colour is your bass? Ive got a nitro plate that has turned slightly creamy - might be suitable for you? EDIT - actually, I've just looked, the 69 has a different screwhole layout from my mid 50s style. Sorry bud. NoirBass
Bit of a longshot; After a quick chat with Howard it seems we need a template, So do any of you lovely people on Basschat have an original Tele bass (68 / 69) scratch plate they could trace? tredders
Can't help you, I'm afraid. Mine's a '73, so different style to yours.
