[/quote] Mark Kings fretboard must be totally knackered within a week if that's the case. No your fret board will be fine. He only pulled at the strings for 15 secs. They're designed to take a beating. Edited September 30, 2013 by gjones Quote
BetaFunk Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 New bass strings in 2 minutes? It's just a pity i wasted 5.29 minutes of my life watching it. Quote
Karnage Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 That's certainly really funny! Buying coated strings in the first place is the other option! I suppose it depends how bad the strings get first, but it's a great little trick. Quote
tonyf Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Just tried it. Flip me, works brilliantly. Whether or not they'll have that much longer on this mortal coil, no idea, but a great way to temporarily revive a set of dead strings. Quote
Machines Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Dirt settled in gaps between frets. Release tension to close gaps (squeeze dirt from gaps) and whack to remove. Makes sense. Quote
waynepunkdude Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I'm going to continue to boil mine. Quote
tonyf Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 Having boiled mine as well over the years, TBH, i think removing them from the bass and releasing the tension has more of an effect than the boiling process itself. Yeah, it releases the gunk but hey, how much gunk can there be? All IMHO. Quote
Bigwan Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Soak overnight in meths. Works a treat. Used to boil them, but meths is better. Quote
DanEly Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 This is cool for on the fly. I Still prefer a fresh new set of strings though Quote
EliasMooseblaster Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Anyone know if it will get dried blood out of my strings, or am I going to have to suck it up and buy a new set? Quote
