Mark Kings fretboard must be totally knackered within a week if that's the case. :D

No your fret board will be fine. He only pulled at the strings for 15 secs. They're designed to take a beating.

That's certainly really funny! Buying coated strings in the first place is the other option!

I suppose it depends how bad the strings get first, but it's a great little trick.

Just tried it. Flip me, works brilliantly. Whether or not they'll have that much longer on this mortal coil, no idea, but a great way to temporarily revive a set of dead strings.

Having boiled mine as well over the years, TBH, i think removing them from the bass and releasing the tension has more of an effect than the boiling process itself. Yeah, it releases the gunk but hey, how much gunk can there be?
