Miki Groove
Hi there! I'm Miki Santamaria, I've just moved to London and I can't wait to meet some nice people and start giggin in the UK! I'm from Barcelona (Spain) and I have a HUGE experience as a professional bassist both live and in the studio, specially considering my age (28). I'm really grateful for how my career has unfolded, but now it's time to start a new chapter in my life here in London. Here's a little bit about me: - Graduated at Superior College of Music of Catalunya (ESMUC) where I studied with the bass giant Gary Willis for 4 years. - Lately I've been in the US playing bass with the hit musical Rock of Ages and also the ballroom dance show Burn the Floor. - Currently I'm a Yamaha performing artist and I'm doing a clinic tour around Europe (but not a lot of gigs unfortunately). - I've played in several TV shows in Spain such as Buenafuente, La Marató de TV3, La Partida de TV3 and played, toured and/or recorded with big spanish artists such as Monica Green, Antonio Orozco, Sergio Dalma or Lidia Guevara and with the legendary spanish ska band Discipulos de Otilia which he has toured with in Europe and Japan. - I have been playing/touring/recording in more than 90 projects in Spain, including tribute bands (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dire Straits and Elvis Presley) and a lot of cover bands, among many other original projects such as Andreu Martinez, Gnaposs, Kayo Malayo, La Carrau, Miguel Talavera power trio... - I have professional experience playing all kind of styles: pop, rock, funk, blues, jazz, fusion, electro, dance, soul, r'n'b, country, ska, metal, punk, reggae, folk, bossa, rumba... and I really enjoy playing any style of music. I have more than 2.000 songs of all kind of styles in my head. - I have a lot of experience playing with MD's, click tracks and in-ear monitoring. - I have professional attittude, sense of humour, good vibes, I can learn songs REALLY fast, I have my own gear (6 different top of the line basses and a great amp), my own car... ...I just want to keep working as I did in the US and Spain! Here's some links: - My YouTube channel (more than 60 videos and 1,100,000 views): http://www.youtube.com/mikigroove - My website: http://www.mikisantamaria.com - My e-mail: - My official Facebook page: http://www.facebook....tamariaofficial Thanks a lot! Zenitram
If you're struggling to find work I would contact the resident bassist on London's Rock of Ages for dep work, if you haven't already. That might help to get your foot in the door for more West End theatre work. Edited October 1, 2013 by Zenitram

Vbtudor
Hi Miki (and anyone else for that matter) I have a couple of projects that may be of interest. The first is a new covers band called Black Star. Our first gig is a charity gig in Fareham on 29th nov. Although we have a bass player, he is somewhat put off by ambition. The event organiser has two corporate gigs for us depending on how well we do. I am very big on performance having nmet with Tom Jackson (http://tomjacksonproductions.com/) whilst playing at the Indie Entertainment Summit last year and although I was big on performance before, he showed me two tricks during rehearsal that I used during the performance and EVERYONE was talking about those two songs. We were voted The Success of the event. His philosophy (bourne out by evidence is that 65% of the experience is what the audience see, 20% is what they feel and 15% is what they hear. Our bass player doesn't want to partake saying it's not him to be moving on stage Second project is my originals band Free From Gravity. www.freefromgravitymusic.com. The band I currently have are all pros. (One of them is Andy Mitchell from The Yardbirds). Problem is the cost of doing a gig is too much to play build up gigs. I have a pro marketing guy doing social media/ website and branding, a pro PR girl for doing PR and radio plugging. I also have a promoter who will promote us through her network of venues (7 of them in London) and I am talking to one of the top UK promoters about a tour next year with support slots for a very well known heritage band. I am therefore looking to build Free From Gravity from scratch and to this end have the drummer/Lead Guitarist - now just need second lead/Rhythm and bass player - the rhythm I can do myself but prefer to just be front man. If you or anyone else on this forum would like to have a bash at it, then get in touch and let me know You can check out our music at http://youtu.be/8jpiyLJqR8A (The Long Road - the debut single) http://youtu.be/VIihF78iKk0 (I Have A Dream) All the best Vince PS We are based in Surrey/ London area
