ras52 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Having happily stumbled upon a thinline nylon electro-acoustic earlier this year, my GAS for a steel-strung acoustic I can comfortably play while standing was stirred. I was leaning towards âparlourâ-sized guitars with 12th-fret neck joins, which have a look-and-feel familiar from my days of classical guitar lessons. Then I found an eBay seller with a slew of ex-demo/ex-display models, and I was pleasantly surprised to âwinâ a Tanglewood for around half of its street price. The auction ended at the weekend, the guitar was despatched on Monday, and was delivered yesterday. Except I had the minor distraction of the day job yesterday, and was out and about in the evening. I got home shortly after ten oâclock, wondering⊠would the carrier just leave the box in the rain on the doorstep? Would there be a card saying I had to call to rearrange delivery, or visit some depot in who-knows where? But - oh joy! - there was card saying it had been left with a neighbour. Then the agonising â was it too late to go and knock on my neighbourâs door? I took the considerate route and decided it was. Also, unwrapping a new toy would have been too exciting close to bedtime! Tonight, Iâll be returning home briefly before going out again⊠Iâll have enough time to collect the box from the neighbour, but not enough to play with the new toy! Ah well⊠this is turning out to be quite a long new guitar day. :-\ BTW this is a straight acoustic, so expect queries on various pickup options to followâŠ
LukeFRC Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 and seeing you're making us wait I will remind you.....
ras52 Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013
the suspense is killing me.
Me too ;-) Just thought I'd spread the pain. (Tonight is play-with-new-toy night!)
ras52 Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Just the tiniest of dings on the side of the neck - literally the size of a pin-prick - and some tarnished strings to suggest it's not factory-fresh. Otherwise: yum yum!
