Ibanez Doug Wimbish DWB3 Project - WITHDRAWN
£250

Recommended Posts

This bass was my main gigging bass for about 6 months.

When I first received it, the area below the controls had been broken off due to being dropped or something. Luckily it came with all the pieces of wood so I was slowly able to rebuild it all using wood glue and clamps.

I then spent time filling in the areas where the little splinters of wood were missing and spent a long time sanding it down and sprayed it in one of my favourite colours, Ford Imperial Blue.

I decided later on to completely strip it down and give it the gunstock oil finish but I got so far and its been left untouched for a number of months now. My current options are to pay someone to finish it for me or to sell it on to someone who will spend the time needed to get this beautiful looking bass back to looking its best.

The bass will come with:

control and battery covers

brass nut

Hipshot tuners

Schaller Straplocks (the body end at least but I think I should still have the strap end)

a replacement bridge as the intonation screws on the original were jammed and rounded on the original one but I will supply the original if I still have it

The original EMG P4 & J4 pickups

A full v/v/t solderless EMG wiring harness

Knobs
I will also include the original EQ whch I couldn't get to work as well as a set of Rosound flats that had been fitted to it. All the hardware is gold plated.

In use I found the bass to be very light in typical Ibanez fashion and also has the corresponding narrow neck.

Its a neckthrough of maple and bubinga with ash wings and rosewood fretboard with abalone oval inlays.

This bass was about £900 when it was new, given that it's basically only really going to need time, a heat gun & sandpaper - I'll even include the bottle of gunstock oil I was going to use to finish it off - I'm looking for £260 posted in its original case

Whoever gets this and finishes it off is going to have a very good bass and I am going to be one very jealous bass player but I have nethier the time to do it or the funds to pay someone (unless someone on this forum could do it for much cheapness)

and now the pictures:

This is what it should look like:

To be honest, after taking these pictures it doesn't appear to be as bad as I've made it out to be

As well as preserving the label inside with the model number I also had the foresight to take a picture of the model number as well in case I needed to contact Ibanez to see about a replacement decal etc and I believe that should the EQ not be fixable it is still possible to buy them or at least was the last time I checked
