Modifying a bass amp help

Hi all!

I have an amp that is great but what would make it better would by a mute switch.

I'm assuming it's a case of wiring a switch from the input if I only want to mute the input or I'm thinking I could put a switch before the speaker output?

I want to avoid the speaker popping when switching so would something along the lines of a millennium switch type wiring help avoid this?

Any advice much appreciated!
