Gamble
Hi chaps and chapesses I've got a pair of EMGs to put in a bass which I've had routed out to fit them, but the chap who modded the body for me says I need to line the cavities with conductive paint. I guess my question is, do I really?
Musky
In a word, no. The point of conductive paint (or foil) is to screen the pickups and wiring from interference, so you might like to do it but it's in no way necessary. Especially if you've got low impedance pickups. Ou7shined
As far as I'm aware EMGs are already shielded internally so shouldn't need any more ... of course belt and braces won't do you any harm.
Mr. Foxen
You still have the wiring in the cavities to deal with, use shielded wire should be enough since EMGs are already shielded, assuming they are active EMGS, not the passive line they do. CHRISDABASS
Shielding paint is good... ...copper tape with conductive adhesive is better!
Ghost_Bass
I like using grafite spray paint. Is easy to use and gives a good finish. I normally use it to improve grounding, copper foil will do a better job at shielding but is a bigger pain in the a... to apply. This is only needed if your bass is noisy, if it's dead silent you don't need to bother with anything.
