Annoying Twit Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) Really? Is there more to this than I'm aware of? Made in USA bass sells for £85 shocker?!?!?! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/peavey-foundation-5-string-bass-guitar-made-in-usa-/251256578173?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item3a800f207d Edited October 4, 2013 by Annoying Twit Quote
alyctes Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I'm not bidding because I've got one... (pink, as it happens). Quote
Annoying Twit Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) I did not know it was possible to buy a made in USA bass from a well known manufacturer for that little. I was shocked at the £150 until I searched sold listings and found them selling for less. I'm not going to buy one as I have a four string fretted that I really like. I had a google to see if they're available fretless. I found this: , but I don't really like that sound. Just out of curiosity, have you reviewed your foundation? What's it like? Edited October 4, 2013 by Annoying Twit Quote
Stompbox Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 [sub]These are excellent guitars - I've now got three - a black one with all maple neck/board, a white one with rosewood board and a black one with rosewood board - this one is a fretless. [/sub] [sub]All are well made & lovely necks, I think they are stunners - and were not a cheap bass when they came out .[/sub] [sub] [/sub] Quote
Annoying Twit Posted October 5, 2013 Author Posted October 5, 2013 Do you have any recordings of the fretless? I've sort of got my eye out for the right fretless, and looking for a USA Peavey Foundation would be an interesting, but affordable, option. However, the only audio example I found online (linked above) didn't sound very good. Quote
Stompbox Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Sorry - no recordings, but with flatwound strings & through a decent amp they sound fine - they certainly don't sound like the example in the clip above in this thread - the guy manages to make a complete arse both of himself and the sound of the bass- it sounds truly awful - about the worst demo I've ever heard. They are just a straightforward passive bass - wired like a Jazz - two volumes, one master tone. The sound is really down to you - with a half decent amp & cabinet and a good pair of ears you'll have no difficulty getting a smooth deep sound. Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I've picked up a USA made strat type thing by Peavey for £20. Quote
Annoying Twit Posted October 6, 2013 Author Posted October 6, 2013 Some real bargains out there. I've seen a lot of people mentioning the T40 as an undervalued bass. It certainly seems to have a wide variety of potential sounds, all of which sound good to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OOLvGYHemPo I presume that the Foundation doesn't have that much variety.
