ezbass Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I recently changed my ringtone from The Who's Baba O'Reilly to something more suiting my instrument of choice, to wit, Stanley Clarke's School Days. Now I don't receive many calls and had pretty much forgotten that I'd made this change. I just had someone ring me and that classic opening made me smile massively. Anyone else got a bass centric ringtone? Quote
EliasMooseblaster Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Not myself, but I did help my friend set up Lost Johnny by Hawkwind for his ringtone. Only trouble is the little speaker struggles to reproduce Lemmy's thick, heavy bass tone so he never hears the bloody thing ringing! Quote
borisbrain Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Intro to Pump it Up by Elvis Costello & The Attractions. Punktastic... BB Quote
Coilte Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I'm an "old school" kind of guy in that I dont like ring tones. I prefer the old, ordinary, boring... "ring ! ring!" If I want to listen to my favourite bassists/music, I have my hi fi, ipod etc. Quote

Hobbayne Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I have The Beatles Hey Bulldog on mine. It starts with piano and then the bass comes thundering in. I agree about the little speaker though! Quote

mikeh Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I have a Biffy clyro tune for my ring tone, 'living isn't a problem because every body dies'. Then a funk slap thing from zedge as my text alert. Quote
bluesparky Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I have had the bass riff of wake up by RATM and also summers in bloom by reef and also cannonball by the breeders but you could barely hear it. It's now the bulls on parade riff by RATM or the guitar solo of wake up by RATM depending on who's calling. Text message alert is the last chord of "more than words" by extreme. I keep meaning to do a snippet of the first 6 notes of rebel rebel by Bowie as a tone too, but haven't gotten around to it yet. When the wife calls it's the synth bubbly intro to fireflies by owl city as that came on the radio as I drove to our wedding. Quote
squire5 Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Intro to 'Makin' Some Noise' by Tom Petty is my particular ringtone of choice. Not bass related I know but it still er...makes some noise.. Quote
davehux Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I have the Magic Roundabout theme tune as my ringtone. No bass, but it does make people of a certain age smile when they hear it go off. Quote
Bilbo Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I had a phone whose ring tone you could programme so I typed in Teen Town Quote
xgsjx Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 I've never looked, but I think my ring tone's a lightish brown. Quote
And consider the tone ................. lowered!! Not a bass tone as I could never hear it in the workshop where I work so I have the intro to 'Dead Skin Mask' by Slayer, that cymbol can be heard above a surprising amount of noise Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted October 6, 2013 Posted October 6, 2013 Thin Lizzy's Jailbreak as played by me good self and the band, recorded at a rehearsal a while ago, its a good icebreaker Quote
Norris Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 I used to have the bass riff from Beck's Minus (Odelay album), but my ancient version of Android doesn't let you use a custom ring tone Quote
