basshead56
Hi All, I'm wanting to swap out the stock pups on my Dean Stylist Cabbie bass for something a bit more vintage and warm sounding. From what I know, the stock pups are actually guitar pickups and are in an awful black plastic. I want something a bit more retro looking (Chrome) and definitely retro sounding. So far I've seen DeArmond Gold Tones, Gretsch/TV Jones Thundertrons, Darkstar and a few others. Will any of these pickups help with the feedback issue these instruments can sometimes have? Anyone got any good recommendations on this? Cheers Colin Edited October 6, 2013 by basshead56
EssentialTension
I heard a surf green Stylist with a TV Jones Thundertron. Sounded very nice.
basshead56
Anyone know if the Fidelitron pups from the Cabronita series P Bass are available separately?
floFC
No, I don't know, but if you do find out, let us know If I had the money I'd go for these from The Creamery to replace the pickups on my Dean Stylist: http://www.creamery-pickups.co.uk/classic-custom-double-track-humbucker-pickup-set.html - because they are custom jobbies you could ask to have them made to give the sound you are after. They are cheaper than the TV Jones in the UK too.
