miles'tone
You can't play blues bass any better than Tommy Shannon. It doesn't take monstrous technique, just the right feel, tone and note choices.
Absolutely!
miles'tone
Tommy Shannon live in '83 with Stevie Ray Vaughan of course as half of Double Trouble. GREAT gig and the bass is mixed really well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smSiCjYIvrM Edited March 24, 2014 by icastle Link fixed.
KevB
There's a Tommy Shannon instructional DVD on blues bass playing that can usually be picked up on the cheap in music shops, worth a look to the OP maybe?

Shannon tends to get the plaudits mainly through the SRV connection, but also due to his prior stint with Johnny Winter. Ferguson's only claims to fame were the Fab T-Birds & a sadly premature death. I was torn between posting 'Woodchoppers Ball' or 'I May Be Wrong (But I Won't Be Wrong Always)' as they're both good workouts tbh.
