Si600
The LED on my GE-7B has stopped working. It's an MIJ one with the ACA sticker so I know it needs 12V from mains not 9 and it was OK. I don't suppose anyone knows the spec of the LED so that I can get another one to replace it do they? Or whether I can leave the one on the board alone and add a new one attached to the output jack or something? Electronics isn't my strong point Edited October 8, 2013 by Si600
bertbass
I'm not sure where you get the 12v from, it's 9v.
Si600
It's not! The very old Boss pedals worked perfectly from a 9v battery, but the LED wouldn't light up from 9v mains, only 12v. These are marked ACA power. Then they changed the circuit and the PSU. These newer ones only work on 9v mains Edited April 4, 2014 by Si600
paul_5
You should be fine with any LED. There'll be a resistor on the board to drop the supply to it. Putting either 9 or 12v through an LED will fry it, just make sure it's the right way around.
bertbass
I didn't know that. Apologises.
Si600
No need to apologise, sorry I wrote it in such a way that made you feel you had to. I only know about it because I looked it up when it wouldn't work from a normal PSU Edited October 8, 2013 by Si600
SparkBird
Check the resisitor too while you're in there . I'd do a search for GE-7B schematic , i would imagine any boss pedal schem that works as yours does will do , that'll give you the values and be gentle with that soldering iron ;-). paul_5
A brief look through a couple of Boss (GE7B and OC2) schematics reveals that they use a 3.9kΩ resistor for the LED
