ambient Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Just read this last night, Quite sad really, they made some amazing instruments, one of which I'm lucky enough to own. Quote
Lfalex v1.1 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Watch the used values climb... Especially good condition Flea basses with the Lane Poor pickup. Quote
molan Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 They've been pretty much 'dead' for a while but I kept seeing that they were looking for a new investor. Have they definitely shut up shop for good now? Prices have been rising over in the US but not so much over here yet. Quote
fretmeister Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 Their site is still up. I wonder if they'll close and the people there start a new company. King Double Bass died, but their phoenix Blast Cult seems to be doing well. Quote
BigRedX Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 IME websites for defunct companies stay up until either the domain name of the web hosting runs out and no-one renews it. It costs time and money and you need the people who have access to the servers/passwords. Getting something like this done for a company that has gone out of business is normally a long, long way down the list of priorities. Quote
ambient Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 I'm just going from what I read on talkbass the other day. Quote
bh2 Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013
I'm just going from what I read on talkbass the other day.
Linkie?... I can't find it. Quote
Prime_BASS Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Was going to start a new thread. But found this in the search. I want to know what is happening, if anything? The last rumour I read was that they are going through changes blah blah blah, however I couldn't find their website and it seems rather odd for a domain to just disappear. Maybe I didn't look hard enough. Quote
ambient Posted November 2, 2013 Author Posted November 2, 2013 I read 2 days ago that their websites now been taken down. They stopped building early part of the year. Just search on talkbass and you'll see. Quote
John Schoen Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 The thread on Talkbass is 20+ pages of guessing and speculation, there is no real information to be found there. Quote
Paul_1991 Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 As an owner of a Flea bass and keen admirer of Modulus, I have been following the developments closely recently and I emailed SMART Distribution, the UK Modulus dealer, to see if they had heard anything. They informed me that: 1) For anyone after a Flea bass (FU) they have 1 more left in stock 2) Regarding the Modulus situation, I was informed they may be undergoing business restructuring but all is still a bit unknown. ambient Posted November 12, 2013 Author Posted November 12, 2013 I hope they restart production, my Q6 is about the best bass that I've ever played. Quote
Prime_BASS Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Not seen the talkbass thread myself but by lack of info anywhere I doubt there is any worth anything there. Quote
Paul_1991 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 If anyone is interested, the last Modulus at SMART, a solid silver finish w/SD p'up and aguilar OBP-1 is on sale for £2450. Quote
GrammeFriday Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Afraid it's all true: https://business-bankruptcies.com/cases/modulus-guitars-llc :-( Quote
White Zombie Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) Pity, I've got a Modulus Q4 and it's the best bass I've ever played. Saying that I've never had a shot of a Zon, Fodera, Sadowsky etc Wish I had got a 5 string at the time though. Still the graphite neck is amazing. Also liked how the didn't seem to flood the market with about 40 different models, just stuck to the few designs. Edited April 21, 2014 by White Zombie Quote
Biaeothanata-Bassist Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I wanted to buy a Q4 or Q5 some time in the future but if the prices rocket like they're bound to, I'll steer clear. Still, shame the company are bust. Beautiful sounding basses and so well built. Quote
