HansonFerrari
Hey guys, just looking for a little help and advice. I'm getting rid of my SWR 350x, going back to my old trace head. The trace head measures 17inches, Just wondering if there is a standard procedure to rack it or any tips you could provide thanks in advance
Mr. Foxen
Trace might be able to supply rack ears, ask them.
BassBod
If it wasn't built as a metal box rack unit (ie it was sold in the wooden sleeve) then chances are it is a face plate with preamp circuit..and then a back plate with power supply and power amp, and nothing in between. RandomBass
These are built in a single metal chassis screwed into the outer wooden case. They are easily removed and there should be two screw holes each side near the front of the chassis for mounting the rack ears. Original trace ears are notoriously rare and often people make their own - a simple drilled L bracket affair. Edit: These amps are standard 2U height. HansonFerrari
Cool thanks for the help guys, I'm not one for DIY so I'll get a email sent to Trace and start a search for the other options aswell Are these the kinda things I need? RandomBass
Yep, something looking very similar to those, although the chassis mounting holes will be in different locations to these generic ones. Be interesting to hear if you get a result with TE, I'm looking for some at the moment Cheers Geoff Edited October 14, 2013 by RandomBass
tonyf
From what I can recall from my days of owning a Trace head, there's securing screws on the sleeve. Look for the plastic plugs on the side, pop them out and there's screws underneath that then locate through the wooden sleeve into the side of the head. Once they're out, the head will slide out. I think there's "standard" rack ear location points on the side. From what I can recall, they're available from Trace (if they still hold stock). TBH, can't see them not having them.
