He was on a load of stuff as a session player — http://www.chashodges.com/blog/

Yes, is the song being played on the radio at the moment a new one? If so, I really like it and am glad that for one they`re back and for two that they`re putting out quality material again.

Answering my own question, yes, the new album will be out soon, and this, Two Worlds Collide is the new song:

I should have known Holland would pop up somewhere... And Chas seems to be gradually turning into Jeff Lynne.

On 'Later' the other week, I noticed the same thing....and also the similarity between Dave and Maurice Gibb, especially with the hat he was wearing!

If anyone wants to read Chas Hodge`s book, drop me a pm and I will add it to the basschat library.

It`s a good read, stories about Ritchie Blackmore, Joe Meek, etc as well as Chas and Dave.

Must say once nearly played "Dave" to Chas and those C&D songs are a lot more tricky to play than they first appear (their are a lot more than 3 chord trick)
Some great bass lines there - At the gig we done some standard RnR stuff-maybe he did not think i was up to the job of playing C&D originals and I think it was the right call!

Sorry to dig up this old thread but I saw this on the clip on TV a while ago and I am convinced its a fretless? But I've got a feeling someone will know. I understand the TOTPs would furnish musicians with whatever instruments were available for filming as it was pre recorded anyway, and if they didnt arrive with their own, that could explain it. Or is it fretted?

Dave also uses a Hipshot Xtender (or equivalent) to which he attaches a chord. Not sure if it's on that 69 precision though, might be!! Not just a great bass player but also a fantastic banjo player. Check out Warmed Over Kisses on Dave Edmunds D.E.7th LP.

Trouble is, 'Jeff & Maurice' doesn't have quite the same ring about it.

Great pair of guys though, and seemingly held in very esteem by their peers, which says it all really.

Saw Chas & Dave play the Punk Rebellion in Blackpool a few years ago; it was a blinding show, really nice guys. I forget the drummer's name but apparently he was really long-term with them as well - almost as though they should be a 3 named trio.

I know this is a really old thread but are any of you fellas still interested in Dave Peacock's Precision Bass?

How do you mean? Do you have info on it, is it for sale?

There is always interest in an old P bass with lots of stories to tell especially when it belongs to a respected player such as Dave.

I vaguely recall Dave gave away one of his Precision basses as a prize on Swap Shop when I was a kid, early eighties I guess. I even entered the competition.

I wonder where that ended up?

Well I do have information on it but it's 100% not for sale jezzaboy.  I'll post more details and pictures once I get permission.

I can say that I believe it to be made in 1961 and was refinished in the long distant past....possibly originally red, as so many were back then thanks to Jet Harris.  It has some incredible play wear, has had many parts replaced over the years, has a Fender hipshot tuner as mentioned in the thread, and plays beautifully.  The neck is to die for.

I have this bass and Dave's spare in for a couple of very minor repairs so hopefully he won't mind me posting more close up pics of the bass soon.

The thread metions Dave giving away a P Bass on the TV show Swap Shop.  I'm reliably informed that the bass he gave away was one he made himself. Talented man.
