johnDeereJack
It seems there's a new pedal from Darkglass, this time a fuzz: http://www.darkglass.com/products/duality-dual-fuzz-engine/ No sound clips as yet but it looks pretty good and from what Darkglass are saying on TB it sounds like it might be quite cool too! "Both [fuzz circuits] are totally original and new... One side is an old school style square-wave shaper... gated and with a very vintage, synthy vibe to it (the Filter knob will serve as a shape changer, rounding the corners). The other side is a 4 stage CMOS high gain fat, fuzzy distortion. By combining both all sort of weird things happen... from just mixing the "textures" to dirty phaser-like effects... it can get pretty crazy and unusual. 2 Cool things about it (and main reason of why this design was so tricky) is that it's intended to work very consistently regardless of the rig used: most Fuzzes tend to prefer passive basses and not like cabinets with tweeters. Spencer and I corrected that by adding input buffers (necessary for the Blend knob to work properly) and by using an active Filter control, making the adjustment of 'bite' and high harmonic content a breeze to dial."
I second that Woody; really looking forward to hearing it in action and no prices as yet although as far as I can tell from TB they're on pre-order at the mo. Not sure if that's just in US but Bass Direct & Effect Power Supplies are listed as UK stockists. Suppose you could email for info regarding price and pre-ordering. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on the Darkglass page for clips though.
bakerster135
Arrgh, I wish they would stop releasing such lovely stuff! The "Duality" idea sounds great, I look forward to hearing audio examples of the variation it provides. BassEFX are currently doing pre-orders for $249.00 USD. johnDeereJack
Yeah, I just took delivery of a Darkglass VMT last month; a really nice piece of kit it is too and here's me thinking my pedal gas had dissipated then this is announced. Typical!
Guest FretNoMore
My piggy bank sent me a card saying "I love you ... for not liking fuzz". We'll see about that, it doesn't look like another standard fuzz clone.

Kev
I imagine it will be B3K/Vintage priced. To be honest, I am more interested in the 3Leaf offering

dudewheresmybass
If it is priced around £250, that seems fair considering the name they have built for quality tools, and what is essentially a two-in-one solution

On paper at least, this fuzz should be quite interesting - vintage/synthy/gated and modern in the same pedal? I'm looking forward to hearing some soundclips. So 3Leaf/Spencer is releasing an octave pedal? Bugger!
Sibob
I have to say I'm interested in the business setup. Is Doug at Darkglass an electronics engineer? or is he the ideas/vision and the money? I seem to remember he has a 'partner' who is the electronics guy? (Nothing wrong with that, its how EHX started). Maybe the partner isn't on the scene anymore and Spencer has taken on the role. All speculation on my behalf of course Great pedals from both parties though. Si
johnDeereJack
Spencer at 3Leaf has a new fuzz called 'You're Doom' coming out. BigBassBob
BTW, in case anyone is confused, "You're Doom" is a reference to a rather hilarious series called Frisky Dingo. Quick summary to this gag: an alien super-villain called Killface has built a massive engine to drive the Earth into the Sun but because he's blown all of his money on making this machine he doesn't have the budget to broadcast his evil plot globally so he resorts to making ten thousand post cards which backfires: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OYA_rNgGjg

BigBassBob
Yup! I'd say it's the best Adult Swim animation... beating the usual ATHF, Venture Bros. etc. It only ran for two seasons so you can watch the whole thing in like two hours

dannybuoy
The Talkbass threads on this pedal are rather amusing, so many people gushing over it and ready to hand their money over before they've even heard clips! Very interested to hear both of these though, I wasn't aware of Spencer's either! My favorite fuzz so far is the Team Awesome Fuzz Machine - only reason I would get rid of that is if they brought out a better/smaller version!
