Gust0o Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Wow, very nice - and quite some technique. I've no idea how you master that. Quote
steve-soar Posted October 18, 2013 Author Posted October 18, 2013 I really like the way the room goes up a notch, then the groove comes crashing back in. Very effective. Quote

Cosmo Valdemar Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Impressive, but I get the vacuum cleaner reference... Couldn't make out three notes though. Quote
Nick Riffed Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Fantastic voice, an amazing technique with a solid tight band behind her, but what a boring song. Quote
thisnameistaken Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 She's a bit special, and the drummer is great, but I struggle to be entertained by this sort of music any more. It's all very slick, but it's missing something. It's not art. Quote
DaveFry Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 The most powerful sound i have ever heard was a group of Tibetan monks overtone chanting . I was just walking past and it made me trip over my own feet . Quote
snotsnail Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Quite a remarkable talent. Bet her dad's got a big grin on his face on the big soul train up there in the sky, or where ever it meanders! Quote
Machines Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 A biological anomaly perhaps, but one I didn't think sounded great. Quote
discreet Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 (edited) Frankie Howerd used to do something similar. ...sorry. Edited October 18, 2013 by discreet Quote

wateroftyne Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 Why did she do that when she's got backing vocalists there who would have sounded far better singing the harmony? Quote
Because music is not only art. It is also having fun and courting the audience. I liked this song, Sensitive chords, nice atmosphere, and lovely how she does this what I suppose is overtone stuff only for a few seconds rather than keeping at it and ruining the song. BTW, what's the fat synth? Bassist's synth pedal I presume? Quote
Agreed. Great vocal technique, a groovin' band but a song with a dreadful melody and embarrassingly bad lyrics. Quote
xilddx Posted October 19, 2013 Posted October 19, 2013 I'm not a fan really, but yes, it's very difficult producing two tones at the same time vocally, it's called overtone singing. Nepalese throat singers do it all the time. And so did David Lee Roth. Quote

My fav is @ 2:41 of this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_sY2rjxq6M Not quite as clean as the others but absolutely killer. Quote
