dudewheresmybass
Ime it's the closest production pedal to an oc2 that there is
danny-79
Anybody else ? Been using it for a while now, just seeing how many others use one ? Its more fiddly than it looks, I put oc1 on about 8 oc2 on about 2 and the blend on full, that's about the best tracking I can get out of it, breaks up at about low G not good.... thinking a pog might be better for this job ? Tuco
I had a POG and hated it. Sounded artificial and weedy, with a noticable latency.. my $0.
dudewheresmybass
The oc2 has the same issue broadly speaking. There are a couple of alternatives, which are fairly easy to source. The ebs octabass, and mxr bass octave deluxe. (Loads of demo vids on YouTube) These are the more common alternatives. ime, the ebs does a better 'smooth' octave, whereas the mxr will do better giving a slightly harder tone. The pog is a digital octave, and can sound quite artificial. Some like it that way though, so horses for courses and all that! Your best bet is to try as many as you can, and find that which floats your boat
mcnach
I love it, sold all other octavers after I got this one. The tracking is the best by far, better than the Aguilar Octamizer, which was pretty good, and light years away from the OC-2, whose tracking just drove me crazy. I find it a bit "cleaner" than the OC-2, but it's still very nice. The EBS Octabass was my favourite together with the MarkBass, ended up selling it purely because the MarkBass is nearly flawless in tracking, but the EBS is a really cool sounding octaver too, and also very good tracking (just not as good as the MB). I get it to track really well even on a low E with Stingray, Jazz (with J-Retro) and Precision... At the low E it glitches if sustained, but the G can be held pretty well, and lower. The OC2 would go mental below A is held for more than a fraction of a second. Check this demo, it's similar to what I get: http://www.talkbass.com/threads/markbass-mb-octaver-demo.838847/
danny-79
Thanks all, yeah going to stick with it, was debating the POG but very glad I got to try one after the thought of one and before the parting of cash (could of been nasty ) The MB is doing its job now, its just a matter of getting it balanced for the needed job, its still a compromise the way I have it, but it does the job from A-B better than anything else I have ever owned/used so all good
