Telebass
Mine would simply be a very light Fender CS Precision with a slim, graphite-reinforced Jazz neck, black and all maple. Easy. Even easier if they gave the neck choice as a matter of course.
Conan
Geddy Lee's original 1972 J bass. Not that there is much left of it that is "original" of course! Or maybe one of Chris Squire's Ricks.
AttitudeCastle
Almost certainly a custom, if it's only one I'd say a custom built ERB as no way I'll be able to afford one for a good few years! Otherwise a custom Super P would be lovely
Karnage
The Larivee acoustic 6 string fretless bass I played years ago at a show. Never thought I'd be a 6 string bass player, but here I am! I loved the feel and sound of it back then, but it was a grand or two from memory.
6feet7
And the interesting thing is neither bass was originally made for the person that now owns it.
Actually I bought mine new from Simon at GUS and have been the only owner. It was made to the specs of a Brazillian bass player but not for him. I saw it in Simon's workshop just after it had been reviewed in BGM and just had to have it straight away. Credit cards - wonderful things ........... Hoping I can one day afford to buy your fretless GUS G3 from you
johnDeereJack
If money was indeed 'no object' then it would have to be the Bass of Doom, then I'd give it back to the Pastorius family ensuring I have good karma for the rest of my days. Truckstop
Yeah I'd love a Yamaha 2024x in sunburst/tobacco burst. I already have a white 424x and a black 1024x; I think I'd be getting it just to complete the set! Seeing as that's a bit boring my other choice would be a Roscoe Century 4. Clarky
Scott LaFaro's reconstructed bass (as Danny Thompson won't be selling 'Victoria' any time soon!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fqQ9dCk9oU http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=I5-PgCFlx1k#t=
franzbassist
I'd have a YOB '66 Jazz, dots and bound neck with lollipop tuners.

Legion
Not particularly extravagant but I'd love a short scale Lakland Decade with Dark Stars fitted.
Cat Burrito
For me it'd be a 1955 / 1956 butterscotch Fender P-bass although I agree that I'd rather have the money for a holiday or something else these days. I worry enough about taking a Squier around some of the venues I've played!
EBS_freak
Macca's violin bass. That would do me. Got to be the most valuable, iconic bass. Ever.
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE
Seeing I'm a headless guy, who likes vibrant colours, I would probably get status make me a yellow or green one. Or kubicki. I would get one that does a fretted and fret less neck,soI could change at will. It would be passive too for a change.
Pow_22
Ric 4005 or original '57 P bass (burst/gold/maple)

Funky Dunky
Maybe a Wal MK 3 for me. Or a vintage Fender Jazz.
Cosmo Valdemar
Custom Alembic Series bass, with elaborate neck inlay and Omega body cut with pistol grip horns. And, if money truly is no object, I'll take an 8 string version to boot.
Paul S
I'd get most pleasure from a room full of 80s and 90s Japanese basses, rather than one or two boutique jobs. One each of all the different Squiers, Westone, Washburn, Greco, Aria Pro etc - the good, bad and ugly!
bartelby
Apart from a black Wal MkII 4 string I'd love a Black & Gold SB Elite I
fingerz
Interesting theme. I'd love to add a Wal and a couple of old Fenders (P and J) to my list. But ultimately I haven't found the higher the price tag the better the bass - I've played good and bad at all price points. Big fan of all Japanese stuff too like Paul S above.. Evil Undead
The bass that I'd want doesn't exist, and I don't even know whether Spector would make it! But if I had the money, it would be a Spector NS-2 with the Doug Wimbish sized neck (jazz nut, slim profile), but in a 30.5" scale. And electronics would be MEC p/j pickups with 2 band EQ. So basically, the moon on a stick! Oh yeah, and even if Spector would make it, it would probably cost about £6k Edited October 21, 2013 by Evil Undead
