Paul_1991 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 As a proud owner of a '97 Flea with the LP pup I can say that these are fabulous instruments. Best bass I have ever played, cuts through anything. Couple all of that with the fact that Modulus are now defunct. These will become even more desirable instruments. Seriously tempted on this though, but owning two seems too greedy lol.
Beedster Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 That's a Flea not a Funk Unlimited. Wonderful instrument
mihaikolla Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 (edited)
That's a Flea not a Funk Unlimited.
No, this is a Funk Unlimited. 2007 + no Flea logo + trussrod + no neck plate + bit larger headstock = Funk unlimited But basically we are talking about nearly the same bass. Wonderful instrument indeed ! Edited October 25, 2013 by mihaikolla
Paul_1991 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Flea logo models were stopped in 98. The trussrods have been on them for many years and from what I recall, the funk unlimited was coined in 2008. These are becoming harder to find these days, infact I can only recall seeing a few for sale on basschat over the last 5 years.
OK, you're right indeed. 2007 seems to be the last year for the "Flea" naming, then it is FU. But clearly we have two different versions of this bass and the switching point is not linked with the naming change late 2000's. (the older ones with no trussrod, neckplate and Flea logo, basically under 1999/2000) (the recent ones, be they Flea or FU named, with trussrod, classic Modulus logo and no neckplate...and thinner headstock shape I believe) Edited October 25, 2013 by mihaikolla
Beedster Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Aw, the perfect Christmas present, all blue and sparkly, would look so great under my Christmas tree. Despite being a Precision man through and through, if i were a pro this would be my bass of choice. Amazing playability and amazing tone, put a set of flats on and you have the most incredible funky retro groove tones through to incredible slap and rock grind. Perfect
