ubassman
Never played an Aluminium DB - but can think that the sound would be that great. Maybe a case of "just because you can doesnt mean you should" ? Anyone? Silvia Bluejay
I wouldn't play an aluminium bass guitar, so I assume I'd shun an aluminium double bass too. Mind you, I definitely would have a go on it first, though

That sums it up for me :-) I think it would be fun and apparently they sound ok. Burg
Apparently it's only aluminium covered. D'oh!
ubassman
Yes, just read the sellers updated post at the bottom - cladding a wooden bass in aluminium rather changes everything! Its like fitting a wipe clean, anti graffiti riot shield !
slap_it_hard
Spoke to the seller, & quite frankly he hasn't got a clue! No more photos. as promised...very strange! I won't say more than that!
Owen
I would TOTALLY have one even if it was just to stand up in the corner to look cool. How it sounds would be secondary. I have insatiable plank GAS but oddly no DB GAS at all.

Happy Jack
More on this golden aluminium bass here !
To win this bass, all you need do is supply the correct pronunciation of Pfretszchner Now would probably be a good moment to mention that this DB has, of course, no frets. It was originally known as a Pfretlesszchner Edited October 24, 2013 by Happy Jack

Silvia Bluejay
These images of crazy DBs are making me think of the sports-car-vs.-penis-size concept! Really, a DB player doesn't need his - er - instrument to be shiny like that. It's already big enough! And if the DB player is a woman, she'd be noticed even if she played an invisible one... TheRev
This Pfretszchner is practically sculpture, to my eyes: It's a shame the ebay bass isn't the real deal - if it was an ALCOA you could have bought it and sold it on to one of the rockabilly boys over on Talkbass for a ton of money. Ticktock
Veleno made solid aluminium guitars (including the neck). That double bass looks great. I'm not saying its name though...

slap_it_hard
Aluminium Double Basses in the UK...These are as rare as Rocking Horse S**t! I think that peoples knowledge of them & their varying sound according to set-up is even rarer...Except for a few who have no doubt spent a long time doing research on them!
