Thunderpaws Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013
keeps my knob in tune... oh, is that not normal?
Has me laughing out loud. Might be a catheter pedal. Quote
Thunderpaws Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013
I have a 2011 US standard Jazz (bought 2nd hand) and a 2012 US standard P (bought new) and they're both routed as per the OP, including the CNC-locator hold / stash receptacle. It does seem like this could be easily improved on by Fender to give people the option; though personally I think the Jaco sans-guard thing looks crap so I can live with it.
Maybe fender have a wee factory somewhere that makes bodies. Some bodies might get shipped to the Mexican assembly plant, some to the American assembly plant. Would make sense, especially in tough economic climes.Maybe they don't actually get shipped to Mexico, as maybe the bodies are made there. Quote
Musicman20 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013
G&L JB-2 Sorted.
Yeah they are nice. Not enough around. Quote
gsgbass Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I really don't care what my Fender looks like under the PG. As long as it holds up, and plays well, fine with me. I've had to much fun with other brand basses with lousy fret work. Quote
mcnach Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013
This is why I bought a VM Squier because it doesn't have the ugly hogged out body.
eh? the neck routing on the one I used to have was an oversized rectangle, not following the contour of the pickup! (the fretless sold without a pickguard so it's different) By contrast, my '94 Squier Jazz has neat pickup routs and I used to play it without a pickguard, and so does the Squier MIke Dirnt P-bass. mcnach Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 The one I used to have did not look like that at all (natural finish)... I wish it did! Out of curiosity now, which model was this? Quote

KiOgon Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 (edited) This is in reply to the question regarding the round hole, not the shape of the routing, just the hole; "Hi John, From our understanding the hole is used for a jig in the painting process for all Mexican bodies as a way to suspend the body. It is only on Mexican bodies and is always located in a place that would be under the pick guard. In the American factory they use a different painting process therefore not needing the hole. Hope this helps Thanks Emile" Edited October 26, 2013 by KiOgon Quote

Great bass by the way. Quote
AntLockyer Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Ah so I was wrong about the hole, sorry about that. Lowender the active doesn't have the control plate http://www.fender.com/en-GB/squier/basses/jazz-bass/deluxe-jazz-bass-iv-active-4-string-ebonol-fingerboard-3-color-sunburst/ Quote

By the way, that's almost identical to the Squier Deluxe J, which IMO is one of the best bargains out there. And outstanding instrument for about 200. Quote

AntLockyer Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 But.... the 60th Anniversary ones were available from Mexico too. Quote
wateroftyne Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 I can't see any sloppiness in the OP - it looks like it's routed exactly like it was intended to be..? Quote
