I'm in the process of building a pedalboard and don't know what power unit I should go for. According to the info with the pedal it states it has the draw of a small town, 600 ma st 12V and none of the units I've seen cater for such a beast.

The best I've seen is the Moen Power station as it seems to have a variable draw for 9 and 12V up to 800ma total and failing that two powersockets that could take the actual markbass supply.

Is anyone able to offer any advice or alternatives please?

Hey mate, I've got the Compressore too & I've tried to search for power supplies a few times now, the only thing i've found so far is to get one of the T-Rex power supplies like the Chameleon, and use the T-Rex doubler cable to combine the currents of two of the isolated sockets to get the required 600mA. I'm still using the Markbass psu at the minute though.

Cheers Johnny that looks like a good option. The MOEN Powerstation is quite big and needs to be mounted on the top of the pedalboard so the chameleon looks like a better bet at the moment. Here's the link if you're interested:

Google "Talkbass Markbass Power Supplies"
You should be able to find an answer in that thread.
It has been talked about in some detail.

GigRig make something that works with multiple voltage requirements I think. I know someone who uses them to power all of his pedal boards (he has three I think) and they all have various differing power requirements :)

Molan the Gigrig does look like a good option, it's probably the one I'll eventually go for as it's probably the best there is for future expandability. The Supernova box used to get the voltage to 12V puts out 1200mA so you could power a second Markbass pedal if you wanted. It is understandably more expensive than the T-Rex though.

Man that MOEN Powerstation looks huge! And expensive!

i used to power an MB Compressore with a Diago powerstation, daisy-chained with a bunch of others.

i seem to remember that it was fine, and could cope with at least one 12v pedal, provided there is at least one 9v pedal also connected.

The GigRig adapters won't do the MB stuff. It's a pain. I had Dan at GR wire two SupaNova adapters in parallel for me as an experiment to see if it would work and that did... But that's basically a £100 power adapter. A single SupaNova should do it on paper, but in practice after a short while the pedals just bottom out and start flashing and ticking. Very odd.

I used the SuperSynth (same power demands) for a while and my advice is to use the original adapter.

Man that's a right pain, I would have thought the SuperNova would have more than enough power for one of the MB pedals?

I don't suppose you've tried the T-Rex Chameleon option have you? I don't fancy using the MB adapter in the long run, I probably would've chosen a different compressor if I knew I'd be stuck with the wall wart for life!

I don't have any experience with the other supplies I'm afraid. I was surprised about the SupaNova, as was Dan. It seems that the MB stuff needs serious headroom for some odd peaks in power consumption. I won't pretend to understand why, but it took two wired together to make it work!

Yes you can run 3 Markbass pedals on the one Markbass mains adaptor.

I used one of these for a while with my compressore. It's 500mA not 600mA though. It seemed to work OK.

I think it's the valve that needs all that juice.

But when I switched to just a Zoom B3 and Compressore I went back to using the original PSU since its only 2 plugs in total (3 including the amp).
