1970 Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 What's a tube amp you've had for years and not once let you down? GO. Quote
KiOgon Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Ashdown Little Bastard 3 years & 7 months, used almost every day, never missed a beat it may not be big, it might not be clever - but it sounds bloody lovely Quote
JapanAxe Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Matchless Lightning 15 Reverb 1x12. The loudest and loveliest 15W combo on the planet. Not a bass amp mind! Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 My Burman Pro502 has been solid, my most used amp too. Starting with a proper service is key. Quote
thodrik Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Trace Elliot V6 has been pretty good for me. Only had it for 9 months but it survived a trip from the Netherlands okay. Quote
Bassman Steve Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 My Boogie Bass 400 has given me 24 years of faultless service so far and shows no sign of stopping. Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 Reliability is massively more down to how you treat it than who makes it though. Quote
VTypeV4 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Most of the valve amps I own and have owned have been pretty reliable with the exception of my old Trace V4 which Longtime Fred now owns. Ashton BV300: Owned for 2.5 years with no issues. It's done a number of gigs and rehearsals with plenty of travelling. Trace TwinValve: Only had it six months but so far so good. Leak ST20: Owned for 2.5 years with no issues. Gets used most days for hours at a time. Linear L30: Owned for ~10 years with no issues. Gets used at least once a week. Beavis 50: Owned for 16 years with minimal issues. I had an exploding cap about ten years ago so had a number of suspect ones replaced. This amp has been everywhere, used, abused and hammered in just about every situation for as long as I've been playing. Still in regular service getting used at least once a week. Zero issues since coonversion to 6550 from EL34 back in ~'07. +1 on looking after them although other than the odd valve failure I've found them to be as reliable if not more than some of the transistor amps I've had in the past.
