Fender strap button position??

Hi chaps, has anyone ever seen a strap button fitted to the lower horn in addition to the one on the top horn on early Fender basses as per the below pic??

Only when used by a lefty Eg. Jimi Goodwin of Doves.

That's what I thought! so it was 'never' an original stock option / feature then??
