For those who might be interested. The Velvets were standard listening when I was in Sixth Form http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/lou-reed-velvet-underground-leader-and-rock-pioneer-dead-at-71-20131027

Bloody Hell! And I was just watching Herbie Flowers tell the story about the 'Walk On The Wild Side' bass line.

I'll never forget listening to this track after getting lucky with Amy Sharpe when I was 17. Life changing and never forgotten

Thanks for the great music Lou. Farewell to a great talent.

One of the albums that made me want to play bass and still an all time favourite. Check this out.

As well as the sad news of Lou Reed's passing, sorry to hear about your mate John

What a massive influence on so many artists, from Bowie to REM and beyond. Here's my favourite Lou solo tune from a fantastic period of his career where he worked with the late, brilliant Robert Quine, Fred Maher and the amazing Fernando Saunders on Bass

Sometimes people wonder why we get upset over the deaths of people we have never met. But this is why. They provide the soundtracks to our lives. The memories come flooding back when a great music maker dies
