Pinball Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013
What a massive influence on so many artists, from Bowie to REM and beyond. Here's my favourite Lou solo tune from a fantastic period of his career where he worked with the late, brilliant Robert Quine, Fred Maher and the amazing Fernando Saunders on Bass
He favoured great bass players and lines in his work. I guess it fitted with his driving drum beats and minimalist guitar. It was his energy, personality and song writing skills that made him so influential, all backed by a good musical ear and distinctive vocals. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Another legend gone. I found his stuff more miss than hit. (Lulu for example). He seemed to have attitude. I remember when johnnie walker tried to interview him in a hotel, and he basically just grunted. Maybe he had issues. Saw him supporting U2 on the Joshua tree gig at wembley and he was dire. However, after hearing the New York album on GLR radio, I bought it and think its a great album. Rip anyway Quote
Nick Riffed Posted October 27, 2013 Posted October 27, 2013 Another bit of my youth has sadly departed. RIP Lou Reed. Quote

Pinball Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) A little personal tribute to Lou. I woke up with this in my head last Sunday after watching a band on Saturday who made a big point of playing sweet Jane as their last track. No apologies for the bad timing as it was a one-taker. Hope you likeee https://soundcloud.c...rd-never-back-2 Edited November 19, 2013 by Pinball Quote
