crez5150 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I missed it.... was it live or were they miming? Quote
Bo0tsy Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I watched it and have to say that was pretty poor. Really hoping that EWF are not past their sell by date! Quote
ezbass Posted October 28, 2013 Author Posted October 28, 2013
I missed it.... was it live or were they miming?
A bit of both I think. Quote
antnee Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I think it was all live, it was that bad... Quote
crez5150 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Just watched it...... usual BBC audio playback with live vocals over the top. Quote
BassBunny Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 To be fair, It's only really "Earth" now, (Verdine White, Phil Bailey and Ralf Johnson). Saw this line-up at MEN Arena a few years back and they weren't a patch on the original. To their credit they did admit to Phil Bailey's wife helping him sing the high notes off stage. As one of my favourite all time bands I hate to admit it, butI think it is time to quit. Quote
MB1 Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 MB1. Just Earth? ...Not more cutbacks? So they've fired Fire? and let Wind go? Quote
lowdown Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013
So they've fired Fire? and let Wind go?
Indeed, I believe there was a lighter involved. Quote
KevB Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 I still think they should have expanded the original band to Earth Wind Fire & Theft then they could have moved into insurance when the gigs dried up. Quote
spongebob Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013
3 members on Later (including V White) but it was just an interview, no performance. They were all looking their age!
I watched this - on the Sky description it had them listed....I got excited as I thought it'd be the first band this series I'd like to see perform. Unfortunately, just the chat - but they did show a nice clip of 'Fantasy'. Quote
BetaFunk Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) I saw EW&F at Hammersmith Odeon in 1975 and at Wembley in 1979. Just grateful that i caught them at their best. JTUK Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 FWIW, I think Verdine White has been miming 'his' parts for more than quite a while now... which kind of makes a mockery of them being a great live band... Wasn't THAT knocked out way back when I saw them at Wembley.... but then that place can kill most bands. Quote
