I am thinking of having refinished one of my Nordy VP5 to black.

I don't necessarily want to ship it back to the US due to shipping charges and re-importing taxes
Can you recommend any one in Europe doing this?

There are some forum members who did decent refinish jobs. I guess the best way is to simply put "refinish" in search window and to try your luck in contacting guys whose job impress you ;)

The only guy I would trust to refinish an expensive instrument is this guy http://www.dwilsonguitars.com He's local'ish to me and there is a lot of members on here who will vouch for the quality of his workmanship.

If its going back for work, shouldn't need to pay import stuff again, need to do forms before it goes out.

Late thanks for the advice. I went with Dave Wilson!

In the back of this, I've contacted Dave with a view of refinishing one of my old/tired Thunderbirds. I'm eager to see what the results will be here!!

Well, in the meantime I got back my bass.
Dave did a great job!

Wow that looks stunning! I did see a couple of progress photos of your bass that Dave posted on Facebook - I knew he wouldn't let you down!

Sorry, I didn't take pics before the the refin.
In fact it was some kind of vintage amber.
a bit darker than this: http://www.basssandiego.com/images/600_Alleva_Coppolo_LM5_Vintage_Tint_Body.JPG

Wise choice! The black is much nicer.

Had an accident with my lakland BG got dropped and damaged the bottom, been thinking about getting it refinished for a while as it is the one bass i will never sell and so i've decided this is as good a time as any,

After seeing this Thread have spoken to Dave and sorted to have it refinished, it's currently sunburst but am having it refinished in olympic white with matching headstock and white Pearl guard.

I'll post some before and after pictures once it's done

Cheers Steve
