cocco Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 So this is my Lakland Bob Glaub. I love it to death, just never quite been sold on the mint/parchment scratch plate. Either way I'm gonna hit up The Bass Doc. Quote
Roland Rock Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Black/white/black would be lovely Lovely bass Quote
waynepunkdude Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Gold is the only thing that make sunburst even remotely acceptable. Quote
Immo Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 I'd go with black... or better, 3-ply b/w/b. 3TS + Tort looks horrid in my book. Black/white/black pickguard looks cool on 3TS, both my 3TS basses are fitted with b/w/b pickguards and never will this change. Quote
discreet Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 b/w/b. Gold would be good with a maple fb, but not rw... imho. Quote
throwoff Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Throw a curve ball. No plate just a control plate... Quote

discreet Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Keep the mint guard and refin the body lake placid blue. Quote

[/quote] Come on sir, I think that's going a bit far. There's nothing that makes sunburst acceptable in any way. Quote
Cosmo Valdemar Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 Sensible answer - tort. I don't really like black on sunburst - well, not on a P anyway. Gold would look great too, like the ones they put on the 50s reissues - Then add the ashtrays and you will look as cool as Duck Dunn. Quote

Dingus Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) Tort. Black on sunburst looks wrong in so much as it refers back tho post -1974 Fenders , a great many of which were , well, crap, for want of a better term , or at least not as good as the ones from the era that had preceded them . The Bass Doc does a fantastic tort plate that is practically identical in hue to that which was very carefully chosen by Lakland to be vintage- correct to go on their U.S.A - made basses . How can anyone knock sunburst/rosewood /tort? It's like knocking bacon , eggs and baked beans or my current Strictly Come Dancing - based fantasy involving Susanna Reid , Rachael Riley and Vanessa Feltz . Some things are just right , and sunburst /rosewood /tort is very much one of them . Edited October 31, 2013 by Dingus Quote
