Raslee
If i'm honest I'm new to slap really...just been an octave slapper in the past. My soul band want to do this track and i'm totally lost on the slap...i think its Bb but that about it...i've got the slow bits down but any music/notes/vids/drugs that can help me get through this slap bit greatly appreciated. gjones
First of all buy a compressor and put it on full. Makes dodgy slappers sound half decent.

JakeBrownBass
I recorded this for a function band a while ago. It's not the best playing on my part but it may help. EDIT: Here's what i had written down for a basis of the main groove. And then a chord chart. There are variations through out the groove though so be aware of that. Edited November 1, 2013 by JakeBrownBass

When i watch the above video i cringe throughout but that may be due to watching my self and seeing mistakes and general sloppiness from my pov. But saying that, thank you. JTUK
The OP needs to decide...with the band... that the part he is playing works as a slapped part...in context with the band. Quite often it wont...and that will save you a lot of time. What can work tricked up soundwise on a studio track does not always work live. As for the part itself... you just need the bottom end bubbling away...with a few staegic pull-offs. You can do this with ALL thumb or ghost note pats...and the goal should be to get the part working in context rather than ripping the line. If the band do not make room for this in their mix..then all the homework in the world will not really help.
