Whats the best way to get gigs if your a new "originals" band

Gents,

Im kinda managing my band and were now keen to start gigging.

Our first gig is the rhythm of the world festival in Hitchin at Remix club which si great, but thats only come around thanks to the guy who runs our studio being a friendly guy and liking our material too!!!

Any suggestions of how to get gigs in the local and wider area would be appreciated.

Do we contact venues...

Do we try promoters...

Do we try other things ??..

Check the "how to get gigging" thread in off topic. I would go to gigs and meet local bands, given them demos or links to your myspace and ask them to help you out with gigs. Quite often I have got promoters' numbers from local bands.

Do it all. Contact promoters, venues, other bands, festivals, local music press, local radio - just keep going, banging on doors and making sure people don't forget you are there. There is only one way to get there
