4x10 Dilemma

The Berg CN212 weighs 46lbs. That's pretty close to 1 DB112. The CN212 is a 2 handed lift, and is easy to move around, but the DB pulls your arm out of it's socket. I think they both sound fantastic, but the DB's weight and carry is a deal breaker as far as I'm concerned.

If you're in this ballpark I'd also suggest looking at a used Barefaced 212 (40lbs) or the new Super Compact (23lbs) and Big Baby 2 (26lbs).

I have a Vanderkley 112 up for sale. Mark at Bass Direct has pointed a lot of happy people in this direction. If you're near Cambridge you're welcome to try it out.

I think I am going to have to bite the bullet and go to Bass Gear or Bass Direct and actually look, lift and play some of these cabs to see what will be manageable. My only issue is wasting shop staff time, I don't want to drive all the way there play for a couple of hours and leave with nothing, I always feel like I am wasting their time if there is nothing I really like. Oh well might just have to get over that and go to Bass Gear, they have a lovely selection of Bergantino and Aguilar as a first port of call.

Vanderkley are very much on my radar, they look great and get good reviews. Not too sure about Barefaced, I am sure they are superb and I don't want to offend anyone but I just don't like how they look and if I am going to spend a huge chunk of cash I want to like what I am buying (vain I know).

After looking around and reading everyones comments, on reflection it is amazing that there are so many good quality products we can choose from, when I started it seemed there were only a handful but I feel very well catered for.

My thoughts as well, incredibly cheap. I have watched your TKS thread with great interest, they look great and good prices as well, as you said its the gamble not being able to play one. They should make you a endorsee/rep in the UK with a decent selection of the range.

I used EBS cabs for years (Proline 410's) but finally invested in a Berg CN212 when they first came out after trying one at Bass Direct.

I was unconvinced that ANYTHING lightweight would come near the performance and sound of the Proline. I so loved that cab that anything replacing it was almost an emotional rather than technical decision to move to something else. The Berg though has been just amazing. Hits the spots on the output, tone and weight.

As others have pointed out, because it's vertical construction makes it really easy to move about and there's so little weight in it[s], despite it using ceramic drivers[/s] (*neo drivers - corrected by chris_b )

You're welcome to come fly up the M5 and M42 and try mine out.

The GB NX2 212T is normally £740 ish.

I'm also tempted to get an Uber 15 stack. I don't need it. Must stop.

The TKS cabs are great as well. VERY well made, light, great tone.

Because Fender have shutdown Genz Benz all stock is being sold off cheaply. When they're gone they're gone!!

Genz users usually rate their gear very highly. If Genz have the tone you want then these will be the best deals out there.

I dont know why I hadn't thought about them but has anyone got any experience of the EBS Neo 112 cabs? Two of those might be a possibility and I do like EBS.

I already have one of these and debated just getting another but I am very aware that they are 'budget' cabs in the world of 112's. Mine is used at practice a lot and its great but doesn't have vast amounts of low end and I cant imagine even adding another will give me good volume or that much more low end. I could be wrong, perhaps I need to try two....god I am going to have to drive to bass direct as well at this rate.

I think both places are pretty cool about people coming in to try stuff, that's what retailers are all about. I've been at BG when someone has come in for 4 hours+ to try different amps and cabs

You wont beat genz gear for value right now, them combos everywhere are selling off are brilliant, its the only time id say buy new over a used amp from here for a similar budget.

Ha... Iit would be fun, but I don't have the space to keep 'em all. And all that choice would make my head explode.

Make sure you phone ahead just so these shops have what you want to try..
That is not a pop at the shops as you can't expect them to hold everything, everytime so
I make it easier by calling ahead and timing your trip accordingly.
Not point driving 2 hrs and not trying what you want.

If you end up at Bass Gear, who will accomodate you very well, IME... buy a set of strings or something.
