51m0n Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 No, I get lockjaw though Janek Gwizdala is pretty vocal when he's playing, he reckons it helps his phrasing a lot.... Quote
Myke Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013 I clench my teeth together very tight.. Never notice until I have to open my mouth, bit stiff then. Quote
Dingus Posted November 4, 2013 Posted November 4, 2013
No, I get lockjaw though Janek Gwizdala is pretty vocal when he's playing, he reckons it helps his phrasing a lot....
Quite a few advanced players advocate singing what you play , but it irritates me immensely . If I wanted that I would have bought a ticket to see George Benson . Shut up and play your guitar. Quote
4 Strings Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I was finding that after a gig my voice sounded like I'd been at a football match. I put it down to useless bv technique, but the same was happening when I wasn't singing. 'Er indoors pointed out that I sing the bass line as a play. I didn't know. I had to consciously stop, but I'm not sure I have. Quote
risingson Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I do this thing where I take sharp intakes of breath through my nose when I'm really concentrating. Fine in the studio when I'm doing bass takes but if I'm recording acoustic guitar like I do a lot I drive the engineer crazy when I'm mic'ed up! It's totally subconscious of course Quote
Dingus Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I often suffer from irregular breathing when I play my bass through my amp at home , usually because Mrs Dingus is strangling me and shouting " Stop that f***ing racket , I'm trying to watch Eastenders !" Quote
