I think Ash on here bought one off ebay for less than £400, not sure how much exactly. I personally thought he got it quite cheap for a classic...

You are right I got mine for £315 - the nut was damaged so I made a new one but it was a bit of a bargain. I'm keeping my eye on this one, it's the same era but you can never have enough Shergolds! The prices have gone down recently other than for the really rare ones like the 6 string basses and the double necks. It's also pickup only and that will put many off. This is classic late 70s semi pro gear..... A Linear combo and a Shergold Marathon......bet this was someone's pride and joy.

Something I find amusing is that when these pop up they are invariably *not* mentioned on the Shergold forum. Same with other 'specialist' forums, for example the rarer Westone models - often they don't get flagged up on the Westie forum. You can be sure everyone on those forums has spotted them, but maybe the serious collectors are worried they will miss out if they bring the listings to the attention of others! On here there seems to be much more altruism!

Says me with a Marathon safely tucked away indoors... :)

Ha! Ha! Although the Shergold forum is fairly quiet anyway at the moment. As we speak I'm working on my old Marathon, just setting it up. These are seriously good instruments, the neck construction is superb, if I were closer I'd probably have a bid on this bass....and I do have two already!
