I've got a classic J and a contemporary J and yeah, they're really good basses for the money. They're really good basses full stop actually. Great sound and awesome playability. My only real gripe is that they're both just over 10 lbs each so they're not light (hence my Yamaha TRBX purchase). Great looks too, a nice mix of classic J bass styling but with a nice twist. If it wasn't for the weight I'd have bought a second classic J from here as the backup to my main classic J.
