ALD0ZER Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Hi!! First post on BassChat!!! I hope I am in a suitable forum. I have asked about this on TalkBass but not had any response. Thought I'd see if there are any opinions here. I have been a long time admirer of the bass tones found on much of Breach and Raised Fist's recordings, and I am curious to hear your views on how this sound is achieved. What do you think would help to achieve this sound (instrument, amp, fx)? Here are some examples: BREACH http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBoZylI9ATI RAISED FIST http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6F8tcASBaQ I have my own ideas, but I am after any advice from fellow admirers of this sound. Obviously it is quite extreme and won't be to everyone's taste, but any constructive advice would be appreciated. Quote
ALD0ZER Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Here is another example. Gallows this time: http://youtu.be/PFPZPlHWtII Quote

Dread Bass Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Sounds to me like a bass played hard with a pick through a SVT that's overdriving. It think the key is how you play the bass here. Might be a distortion pedal on there but I don't think so. Quote
ALD0ZER Posted November 5, 2013 Author Posted November 5, 2013 Defo picking hard. P bass for breach. SVT is a good shout I reckon. I was thinking Sansamp or similar. Can't decide if it is natural amp distortion, or if there is a pedal pushing it or EQing it. Quote
