JohnFitzgerald
Had been looking for a wee while and this came up locally on Gumtree. Very poorly described. I had to buy it. andydye
very nice beater just in need of a bit of a clean...a kiogon wiring loom and a new pup might be in order in it's future though
JohnFitzgerald
Clean ? I might think about getting rid of the worst of the dust. Other that, all the tarnishing will be staying right where it is !
guybrush threepwood
So just out of wondering... if it was poorly described, was it a bargain?
gjones
Lovely! That's not the one going for £150 in Falkirk is it? If it's not then there's another bargain to be had for somebody as it looks like an old MIJ Squier http://www.gumtree.c...0#photo-content Edited November 5, 2013 by gjones
JohnFitzgerald
Well, I hope never to have to sell it, so I'll come clean. £150. That was the asking price. I suspected it wouldn't hang about so paid him the asking price. I imagine I'd get my money back if I ever have to sell it.
JohnFitzgerald
It's the one in Falkirk Bo'ness actually.
I meant 'dust' and oil the fingerboard, mebbe lavish a bit of guitar polish on it, new strings that's about all I had in mind when I said 'clean'...I'd not bother with any dings & scrapes on it, theyr'e part of it's former life
guybrush threepwood
You lucky man. Oh, and by the way, it's lush. Edited November 5, 2013 by guybrush threepwood

JohnFitzgerald
It's the perfect foil to my TRB1005. utterly different in every way. Something about the advert said "look deeper", I'm glad I did. And yes, a yellow duster along with a light oiling of the fingerboard will be about it. Regarding strings, I gave the ones on there the Marlowedk treatment* and they're now just right in terms of brightness. Try this, it's worked for me on a few basses now. Gives you back most of the brightness of a new set. Not the new 'zing' just a much brighter sound. JohnFitzgerald
According to the scales, it's 7.56lbs Not the heaviest bass I've ever hung on my shoulder.

JohnFitzgerald
So now I have this and the TRB1005F, is that me covered ? Is there space for anything else ? I'm thinking a fretted TRB1005 to match the F and a 1982 JV Jazz in sunburst with tort to match the Precision. Not looking for much then. JohnFitzgerald
Donny, You win some you lose some. On this VERY rare occasion, I lucked out. Don't worry, karma will ensure that I lose out big time at some point in the near future.
