strings and finger noise...are some quieter than others?

Ive always used fender superbass rounds but tried some DR rounds of unknown variant and i 'think' they seemed quieter with tone open (max treble!) on the finger noise front.
placebo effect or real....any thoughts welcome

Flats have hardly any finger noise, so it's definitely a real effect. How much difference there is between different roundwounds I don't know.

Halfrounds are available too and claim to offer the best of both worlds.

Coated roundwounds such as elixir are very smooth feeling and loss noise too.

I think improving your left hand technique will reduce finger noise on any strings.

RCocco are the noisiest in relation to finger noise, that I've ever played. They are quite rough in texture when new and they feel like they are filing off the fingertips. But they sound great otherwise but by the time the surface is more pleasant, the brightness has gone..

I pretty much exclusively play flats these days to get rid of the finger noise, I can still get a reasonably trebly brightness with them. easier on teh fingertips too. Don't think Ill be going back to rounds anytime soon
