3V17C Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 looks ok yeah - i always thought the ones with a one piece pickguard and the solid black logo were a bit earlier than 96/97 though but i'm no expert - someone else will clarify i'm sure. peace c Quote
SJA Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 unusual- I didn't know they did one-piece pickguard jazzes again since the 80's. Quote
budget bassist Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 like the colour, don't like the pickguard Quote
markytbass Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 When I bought my Fernandes Jazz there were some Jazz basses in the shop that had full plastic pick guards. I'm sure they were Squier's and it was around 1995. I have also seen onother of these Fenders with the plastic PG. Quote
yorks5stringer Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) I had one of these MIM in the early 90's, got it from Promenade Music for £200, they said they were display models from a Music Exhibition. First thing I did was put a tort guard on, bought a metal control plate and then replaced the pickups with Kent Armstrongs. Think I sold it on for the same amount around a year later Edited June 24, 2008 by yorks5stringer Quote
Dr.Dave Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Mmmmm. A Mexican Jazz bass. Never seen one of those before May well be super but not rare! Quote
SJA Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 having the jack socket mounted on the plastic scratchplate means that Jazz owners too can experience Precision scratchplate-bendy-itis. Quote
molan Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Not sure it'll be a huge upgrade on what you already have? Unless you're looking at this as a second bass? Quote
Tait Posted June 27, 2008 Posted June 27, 2008 (edited) i think beedster sold an identical one on here ages ago (might even be the same one?) if you're interested you should search it, see what he thought, and who the buyer was and how they got on with it. 'course, i could have just imagined it and im now talking rubish! EDIT: found the link! turns out it was an american jazz, all the pics are gone but i know this was definatly the one! These have the USA serial number (N9)on the face of the headstock and the 'American Traditional' logo. originally one piece scratchplate, but most (mine included) changed to standard scratch and control plate - great basses.
