Clarky Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I bought the Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny album 'Beyond the Missouri Sky' over a decade ago and loved it. I then completely forgot about it. Now that I am more DB-focused I chased it down again and wow what stunning, sensitive playing by Charlie Haden. No pyrotechnics just solid support play and some tasteful solos. Thoroughly recommended. Here's a couple of tracks (the second is the wonderful Morricone theme tune to Cinema Paradiso) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybm2AjzDYXM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uwJKhdXlVTc Quote
jakenewmanbass Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Fab stuff, I was listening to it just yesterday! Quote
tinyd Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Cheers Clarky, it's always nice to get recommendations of stuff to listen to, especially duos and trios featuring DB. I've just found that album on Spotify so I'll be giving it a listen as soon as I get a chance.... Quote
mtroun Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 I've recently been listening to 'Life Between The Exit Signs' by Keith Jarrett. I absolutely love the combination of Charlie Haden with Paul Motian and I think it was Jarrett who first got them together. Quote
marvin spangles Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Yes Clarky it's a favourite album of mine. Check out his duo with Jarret . The album, s called Jasmine . Steal away with Hank Jones too Quote
