great basses these and a great price - these are exactly the same as the California series - I have had both and know this to be so - the only difference being the "Made in USA" sticker - and this is the one to have the passive not the dodgy fender electics active one.

I have the Active version of this bass and I love it - incredibly fast Jazz style neck, really solid build which I perceive to be significantly better than the Standard MIM range of the same era.

Good luck with the sale!

Thanks chaps. It's a really excellent bass but I'm at the stage now where even a hidden keeper has to go.
Simply because of some of the superb basses I've managed to get :D .
All PM's replied to thanks,
Karl.

Further pm's replied, thank you. In response to one comment, I think the price, either couriered or collected, is rather good for a bass that is really not that far off the American version.
Right, brag alert. The following Status Custom is why this cracking Special Deluxe needs to go :D

Hello Si, it is indeed the Custom distressed Status from Ebay. Built for James Stelfox (Starsailor) at the same time as Martin Blunt's (Charlatans). Think James pulled it when he realised the low BIN would be hurt be fees. This was one of the ones before Status started the Vintage Artist series. Rather close to the Guy Pratt one.

Meanwhile, back at the Mex P Bass Special Deluxe series, lot's more PM's replied, this will probably be gone by the end of today. At least three are in the final throes of pushing the button.
Cheers,
Karl.
GONE THANKS, to a chap from Bumtree.
