DaveMuadDib Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Hey guys, I'm looking to install a Hipshot Xtender on my Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Bass so I can go to drop D without faffing around. But this'll be my first xtender - does anyone know exactly which model I should go for? I emailed Jason at Hipshot, and he reckons it's the BT1 that I need, but the he6c (1/2" Clover) and the BT7 also look like potential matches. Considering the price and the shipping from America, I want to get this just right! Thanks! Quote
Dr.Dave Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Why not post a pic of the back of your headstock - easy for us to make a judgement then. Bass parts resource (search it) is quick and the exchange rate is good. Ant the printed instructions are crap but the video on the hipshot website is useful. Quote
DaveMuadDib Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 Ah, good idea! Have included pics of the back and the front. Obviously, it's just the E tuner I'm looking to replace. And for the record, the price label on the back was not what I paid for this bass! Quote

Hope this helps. Quote
The Burpster Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I'd say you're BT7 guess is spot on shape wise. But the holes look a lot closer on the BT1- The only way to be sure is measure the hole spacings and send them with a quick pic to the team at Hippy.... They are pretty cool about helping with these things... Quote
johnnylager Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I'm in for the 7 too. Hippy customer service is spot on - they sent me a 1/16" allen key and a couple of grub screws gratis after I'd foolishly believed the sizing on me B&Q allen key and successfully rounded the grub screw on me BT-2. Quote
DaveMuadDib Posted June 24, 2008 Author Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) Cheers for all the advice, guys! Jason from Hipshot is pretty adamant it's the BT1 i'll need, but I might need to drill new mounting screw holes. I'll be ordering one at midnight - if for any reason I shouldn't, let me know by then, or forever hold your peace! *UPDATE* Just placed my order for the BT-1. Still, the 7 seems very appropriate, but Hipshot seemed positive that the BT-1 is the right choice for me. Too late now anyway Got it for £35.16 from a reputable seller on ebay, brand new and postage included. Pretty good! Edited June 24, 2008 by Dave_MuadDib Quote
