I'm afraid we can't offer any pop music in our repertoire but we can offer first class musicians and great swing music! [/quote] You're welcome! Seriously, huge love and respect to our brethern who are making good cash doing the wedding ents. But I stand by my comments for my own wedding: typical (Mustang Sally/Brown Eyed Girl/etc) wedding bands are not for me; and I've got other things to spend the cash on that B2B can be overly picky about instead of me. We make a point of not doing any of it..for any function, as it happens, and we do pretty well, IMO. We do say to the bookers that they should know what we do, come and see us and forget about any requests...so I think it is possible to get the good work and do something different. Having said that... all you can do is be straight about what you will do for the money and if the booker is well informed, they will make their own choice. FWIW...the best wedding band I recall... as in very different for me at the time, was a Celidh band with a good caller. Far more sociable as practically any age group can join in and enjoy it, and it encourages people to interact, between ages and the two families involved. Plus when the caller is doing his bit between dances the guests can actually talk to each other without having to leave the room. A rock band is great if it's your/the guests thing, but offers nothing to guests who are not into it (Still better than a disco though!). They are fairly well known around the Bucks, Herts and Oxfordshire area and Paul, their bassist is a very talented guy who can even play keyboards at the same time as bass guitar when the situation calls for it! They played at my wedding and even my great aunt and uncle were bopping along to a somewhat censored version of 'Killing in the Name' by RATM! However they do loads of rock, modern pop, classics, original medleys with unexpected twists etc! I love them. Their demo video is a little outdated with some new and ex members since it was shot but you get the idea! This is their wedding band, with another bass player, and they are very good and entertaining... I may be a little biased because I know them... but I can't really think of a better "wedding band", not just because of their musicianship, but because of their personalities.
