LITTLEWING Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I just picked this baby up as a project for a crazy £20 on Gumtree not knowing what to expect. Spent a couple of quid on black hardware, brass nut and new pots/socket and a few hours with a spray can and cutting polish from a car shop, and a mate levelled and dressed the frets. Ooh, mama..... they are so underrated. Plays and sounds better than a whole load of sub £1000 poorly set up basses they try to palm off in shops. Made in a little factory in Scotland apparently. Just going to let it settle down and I'm definitely gigging it New Year. Quote
iconic Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Yup cracking bass's...they get a lot of love from owners...i have 3 precisions. .....i thought they were made in vietnam but the importers are in scotland? Quote
LITTLEWING Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 Yeah, I was surprised too. They've been going a while up there. Check them out. http://www.westfieldguitar.co.uk/westfield/index.asp Don't know what they're like now, the headstock shape's changed, could just be new design. iconic Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I bought 2 pink ones a few months back when kennys music had them on a blowout deal at £40 plus post! My 3ts is older but all have same design..... i dropped a set of 250k pots and a .1 cap in one of them and its my goto bass. All of mine have a set up mainly dropping nut height etc and play very well indeed, great necks p bass but nice and shallow. Out the box mine were quite bright with good slap tone. All in all great value Quote
Dom in Dorset Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I've got an almost identical one, great bass. The basses are around £120 new and for that price they have to be made in China (could be Vietnam but certainly nowhere that pays the UK minimum wage), the building on their website is just a warehouse. Note that there are no pictures of the manufacturing process or workshops. They made a cracking MM style bass too. Quote
LITTLEWING Posted November 10, 2013 Author Posted November 10, 2013 Don't know how old mine is, the headstock decal says Westfield Guitar Makers. Nearly every other one I've seen just says Westfield. (see pic) Anyone have an idea? Quote
Dread Bass Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 I have a P bass and its great. I want to stick an Aguilar P bass pickup in there but the original is pretty darn good. Quote
