I've been watching Al McKay and his band on YouTube, performing an Earth, Wind and Fire greatest hits set. The band sounds as good, if not better than EWF. There's a clip where he's introducing the band, and they're all amazing session musicians. The bassist is great.

I was wondering how he could put that set together. Is it the same as a tribute band doing the same thing, or can he do this because he had writing credits on these songs?
