Billy Apple
Just had comms from the Doc. He's done a dry build, all the hardware, electrics and strings on. He's plugged her in, and he's saying 'instant growl' Just need to sort the scratch plate and truss rod cover, slap some paint on and away we go! Bassman Sam
That is looking fabulous. The paint job will be stunning in that finish.
Billy Apple
A little news here... Howard is experimenting with paintwork, I think the finish is not proving easy. Still on the lookout for a template to copy for the scratch plate and TRC. That's all for now.
discreet
Outstanding. The flake finish will be monumental if it can be pulled off (fnarr). Particularly with those creamy top hats. Ooh - ooh - you should match the pg colour to those. Mmm... Edited February 3, 2014 by discreet

skej21
The man is a legend. I've had a fee bits of work done by Howard including a refinish and his work is always outstanding. Can't wait to see this when it's complete!
Woo! So almost like a flake version of Candy Apple Red? Lush! I had a plastic ray-gun water-pistol in translucent red metalflake when I was a small boy. Colours like that have a lasting effect on you when you're very young and impressionable.

Billy Apple
Just to bump this along a little bit. Obviously Howard has been out of action, but hopefully we'll see the next stage soon.
Billy Apple
This is definitely the non-reverse. The first ones were this shape. I believe Fender made moves against Gibson, and the shape was reversed into the more widely known profile
Billy Apple
Flyguitars pegs the 'other' design as the original, which I didn't think was the case. You are indeed building a non-reverse design though. I guess the semantics throw me off, as I would assume the 'reverse' would be the second design as a design has to exist first to then be reversed.... I would have thought Fender would not like the non-reverse design as it is a tiny bit like the Jazzmaster outline... if viewed in the dark. Flyguitars is a cool site. The t-bird pages are here: http://www.flyguitar...Thunderbird.php
Well, he's got a website and everything so must be right! No, actually he probably is. My logic is that it you reverse something, then the original (non-reverse) must have gone first. So, I can't work out how the later, non-reverse TBird is not actually the reverse.. Hope this makes sense!
NancyJohnson
Nikki Sixx had a straight flipped Thunderbirds (Spector). Fernandes did a copy of it. I think Gary/Cetera has a couple.
