Billy Apple Posted April 16, 2015 Author Posted April 16, 2015 The last pictures of this bass were posted on the 15th April 2014, so almost exactly a year later to the day here's the update! Not the most overwhelming, but at least things are moving. They show the arm cut he's put on and the first base-coat, which I thought would be white, but appears to be clear. Next a bit of flattening he says. He seems to be doing one coat a week. Quote
gilmour Posted April 20, 2015 Posted April 20, 2015 Glad to see some progress on this after such a difficult period and hiatus - good things come to those who wait though Quote
Number6 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 Mind you that timber looks good with the clear coat Quote

Billy Apple Posted July 15, 2015 Author Posted July 15, 2015 Well, we up to 3 coats of base and 2 coats of white Quote
Roland Rock Posted July 15, 2015 Posted July 15, 2015 Can't wait to see it! Will it technically be a vintage instrument by the time you take delivery? Quote

Billy Apple Posted July 28, 2015 Author Posted July 28, 2015 Bit of gold flake.. I thought it looked a bit patchy, but John assures me that it's just the photo. We both agreed that it needed a bit more gold. Once that's done, polish it up, bish bosh, job done, quick as you like Quote
Number6 Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Looking good.....whats the timescale on completion now? Quote

Billy Apple Posted October 14, 2015 Author Posted October 14, 2015 Quick up-date here. Phoned John today to see how he's getting on. He said he was on his third try of getting the gold flake on. Apparently to get a thin even coat is v diff as it seems to go on in fits and starts. I got the impression the poor feller was struggling. He said if the gold was heavier it would be easy. So that's what were doing, more gold Vicar. Quote
Billy Apple Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Some news here. John has tried his best with the gold flake, but he's not been happy with the results. So long story short, we're going with Olympic white. 2 1/2 years so far? Any longer BC builds? Quote
Bassman Sam Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 You've really had a tough ride with this one Sean. I hope the end result is a good one. Quote
